Canvas trainings for academic continuity preparations

Dear University of Oregon Faculty,

Yesterday, the Academic Council sent out a message regarding academic continuity planning and preparations as part of the university’s response to the coronavirus. The council has also published a series of expectations and guidelines to help faculty prepare for issues that might arise in the event of an emergency that causes instructors or students to miss classes.

As part of the expectations, the Academic Council is requiring faculty to use Canvas for courses starting in spring term and for the duration of the academic disruption. To assist with publishing Canvas sites for spring courses and managing coursework and instruction through Canvas, UO Online is offering a number of trainings for faculty in the coming weeks.

All training sessions will be 50 minutes in length, to align with class schedules, and will be held in Room 42 of the Knight Library. The trainings will cover the following topics:

Canvas Tools for Communicating with Students

  • March 11 at 9 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 16 at 10 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 24 at 10 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library

Canvas Tools for Delivering Instruction

  • March 12 at 11 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 17 at 10 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 25 at 11 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library

Canvas Tools for Supporting Active Learning

  • March 13 at 9 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 18 at 10 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 26 at 11 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library

Canvas Tools to Assess Student Learning

  • March 13 at 1 p.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 19 at 10 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
  • March 27 at 11 a.m., Room 42, Knight Library
