The first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the University of Oregon and United Academics ratified in 2013 required the development of many unit-level policies. Units developed policies, which were then approved by their school or college, and the Office of the Provost. Current unit-level policies may be found at Department and Unit Policies.
Policy Review and Updates
Policies may be reviewed and updated at any time, consistent with the procedures set forth in the CBA. Depending on the policy, review may be initiated by the faculty, dean, provost, or provost’s designee. Units should consult their internal governance policies concerning unit-specific policy development and revision processes.
If your unit is preparing to update a policy, please first contact your associate or divisional dean for guidance on process and information on any recent changes to the CBA and/or relevant MOU’s.
Policy revisions must be submitted in .doc file format. Use the track changes function to highlight the differences between the current approved and posted policy and the faculty and deansapproved revision. Submissions that do not clearly show the differences between the current approved policy and the school/college revisions in track changes will not be approved by the Office of the Provost. Revised policies should be submitted by the school/college dean or designee to the Office of the Provost by emailing Ron Bramhall at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put the name of the unit and of the policy in the email subject line.
After the Office of the Provost has approved the revised policy, it will be posted to Department and Unit Policies.
