Goals
Provide new faculty the opportunity to be in community with one another while being introduced to UO’s culture of teaching, mentorship, scholarship, leadership and inclusion.
Objectives
- Cultivate connection and community with your UO peers and colleagues.
- Engage in UO’s mission for inclusion and belonging.
- Define UO’s teaching pillars: professional, inclusive, engaged and research-informed.
- Reflect on the principles of network-based mentorship that is responsive, reciprocal and adaptive.
- Identify resources and support for success in research, scholarship or creative work
- Design your strategy for successfully navigating promotion & tenure while establishing your professional academic identity.
Description
New faculty – tenure-related, career or visiting faculty at any rank in their first three years at UO – are invited to participate in an engaging hybrid experience. This includes some asynchronous learning, coupled with in-person interactive discussions and community building. Faculty will build relationships with one another, as well as colleagues from the following units: Office of the Provost, Teaching Engagement Program, Division of Equity & Inclusion, and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.
