National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity - Resources to Support You

All faculty have free access to many resources from the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) www.facultydiversity.org.

NCFDD’s mission is to support academics in making successful transitions through their careers. They support faculty, postdocs and graduate students in finding the mentoring, professional development training and supportive community they are looking for.

The NCFDD offers a “bootcamp”, also called the NCFDD Faculty Success Program. This program does have a cost associated with it. It is a 12-week online program designed to teach tenure-track and tenured faculty the skills to increase research and writing productivity while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. It includes a supportive community, time tracking, individual coaching sessions, weekly training and accountability class. Talk to your Dean’s office about available cost sharing for your participation in this program.

Thanks to UO’s institutional membership funded through the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion, the following are available at no cost to you:

Core Curriculum

UO’s own New Faculty Success program engages participants in these 10 core curriculum webinars that are designed to help academics to “Thrive in the Academy”, defined as having extraordinary writing and research productivity AND having a full and healthy life off campus. The core curriculum is available to you on demand to learn, and re-learn, when the time is right for you.

14-Day Writing Challenge

Multiple times each year NCFDD offers a 14-Day Writing Challenge that you can register for. The challenge: write for at least 30 minutes every day (M-F) for two weeks. By registering for the 14-Day Writing Challenge, you are connected to a community working to meet the same goals and holding each other accountable.

The Monday Motivator

You can sign up to receive The Monday Motivator, a weekly email that provides positive energy, good vibes and a productivity tip. The purpose of the weekly message is to reinforce the ideas presented in the Core Curriculum and provide support for individuals as they transition throughout their career.

Professor-ing Podcast

Subscribe to NCFDD’s podcast with co-hosts Badia Ahad-Legardy, PhD and Anthony Ocampo, PhD who share the R&R - the real and real-er about life in academia.

Writing Accountability Buddy

You can request to be matched with a writing accountability buddy of a similar rank/title. NCFDD will match buddies as they receive requests.
