Book publication is a distinctive strength at our university in many humanities, social sciences, and professional school departments. This recognition encourages and celebrates UO tenure-track faculty who continue to publish books beyond those included in their file for tenure and promotion to associate professor; and UO career faculty who publish eligible books.
These funds recognize the particular demands of creative and scholarly work in our book disciplines, where sustained writing can be challenging alongside other professional obligations.
Funding may be used for research travel, research materials, publication subvention, permissions, or summer salary.
Eligibility Criteria
- Single- or co-authored, peer-reviewed books, published and available in a medium appropriate to the discipline,
- Original creative work or scholarship (edited volumes are not eligible),
- The book must be related to your scholarly or creative responsibilities at UO,
- The book must not contain more than 30% reprinting of material published elsewhere,
- Must be a book that was not a component of your job application or case for tenure and promotion to associate professor, and
- Published between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. (Do not apply until book is published and available.)
The recognition amount of $5,000 will be payable as a stipend (inclusive of OPE) or ASA funds.
