2026 New Faculty Onboarding Day

Overview

This full-day event includes opportunities to meet campus leaders, engage in sessions that support a strong start in scholarship and teaching, learn tips for developing a mentorship network and much more! The day is dynamic and ensures new faculty can begin to get to know one another and build their UO community. 

All faculty new to the UO are strongly encouraged to attend regardless of rank or title, including Tenure-Track, Visiting and Career Faculty, as well as interested Pro Tem Faculty.

Goal 

Introduction to the many people and resources available to support your success as a faculty member at UO, while introducing you to UO's goals and values.

Objectives

  1. Build awareness of UO resources available to support your work and life (software, benefits, payroll, family support, student services, museums, etc.).
  2. Recognize campus leaders from support offices across the institution.
  3. Develop your professional mentorship network.
  4. Engage in resources to support your continued growth as a teacher.
  5. Engage in resources to support your success in research, scholarship and creative work.
  6. Describe UO's goals and values as they relate to student success, career readiness, and our flourishing community. 
  7. Feel welcomed into UO’s community through engagement with your peers and university leadership.
