Unit Heads: Attend the Department Head Strategy Session to trade strategies with colleagues facing similar circumstances. The first session (tentatively set for Friday, Dec. 5 from noon to 1 p.m.) will focus on some suggested policy changes to deal with faculty absence or non-engagement. Other topics are welcome as long as the focus is on the department head experience. RSVP by Nov. 15 to vpaa@uoregon.edu.
Please consider these reminders during the promotion and review process:
- Watch for irregularities in faculty member’s promotion and/or tenure file materials – correct them before the dossier goes forward.
- Please record promotion votes (committee and faculty) accurately. Instructions are provided on the dossier template on the Guides, Forms, and Templates webpage.
- When faculty members are serving on a college/school personnel committee or UO FPC, they should vote on promotion and tenure cases at the department level and recuse themselves from participating on that case at the higher-level personnel committee. At the department level only, faculty may vote with the personnel committee and also in the vote of the eligible department faculty.
- Please document DEI engagement, as applicable, within the contexts of teaching, research, or service.
You, your faculty, and your staff members are encouraged to attend any of the fall term Q&A Zoom sessions. These cover topics ranging from career faculty promotion to post-tenure review, sabbaticals, and search committees. See the full list of Q & A Zoom sessions.
Questions about faculty reviews, sabbatical, TRP, emeritus, and related topics can be directed to vpaa@uoregon.edu or rirvin@uoregon.edu. We want to hear your concerns about workload, process burdens (we are continually looking for ways to streamline processes), and policies that need clarification.
