Latinx Communities

Líderes Bilingües

The Spanish Heritage Language Program launched Líderes Bilingües in 2020 as part of their mission to center Latinx student voices at the UO. SHL students serve as ambassadors to their fellow students and foster connections with Spanish-speaking communities.

Patos Alumni Network

Get involved with the Patos Alumni Network and UO alumni, students, faculty, and staff who identify with or support the wide-ranging communities of Latin American culture and heritage. The network celebrates our common experiences at the university, and promotes, educates, and celebrates the diversity of our heritage. That includes providing support in recruitment and retaining of students from our communities.

UO Patos

UO Patos/Ducks help create the vibrant and enriching community that makes up the UO. They bring traditions, beliefs, knowledge, pride, vision and viewpoints from the diverse cultures that make up the Latinx community. UO Patos or their ancestors hail from Mexico, Spain, or countries in the Caribbean or Central and South America. They come to the UO from all over Oregon, all over the U.S. and all over the world.

Oregon Folklife Network

Search the online Oregon Culture Keepers Roster—an ever-expanding, juried selection of folk and traditional artists—and connect with cultural experts documented through our regional surveys and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program. Rostered artists and culture keepers can provide educational presentations, hands-on demonstrations, or performances to a variety of audiences. We recommend a fee of at least $250 plus travel expenses unless otherwise noted, for such appearances. We do not serve as a booking agent, so please contact the artists directly.

Sigma Lambda Beta

Sigma Lambda Beta is a Latino-based multicultural fraternity. The mission of the Xi Epsilon Chapter is to nurture and further a dynamic, values-based environment which utilizes our historically Latino based fraternity as a catalyst to better serve the needs and wants of all people.
