Dear colleagues,
Some updates on career instructional faculty hiring for 2024-2025:
- The provost’s office (using work done by CAS as a base) has created a template for career instructional faculty contingent offers. It is linked to OtP’s refreshed faculty hiring webpage. Note that HR has a more general offer letter template available.
- Credit toward promotion remains a provost’s office decision. Especially in cases where you are hiring faculty already employed by UO, please evaluate their record using this guidelines, then work with your dean’s office to coordinate with the provost’s office.
- The provost’s office has ultimate responsibility for approving offers and salary even though the process is managed in the college. If you are considering a salary offer that appears to be outside of established ranges (considering seniority and rank) in your unit, please work with your dean’s office to coordinate with the provost’s office.
Questions can be directed to Hal Sadofsky or another member of the provost’s office personnel team.
Sincerely,
Office of the Provost
