Book Publication Award

Book publication is a distinctive strength at our university in many humanities, social sciences, and professional school departments, and I am pleased to announce a new award to encourage and celebrate UO scholars who continue to publish books beyond those required for tenure and promotion to associate professor.

The award recognizes the particular demands of creative and scholarly work in our book disciplines, where sustained writing can be challenging alongside teaching, graduate advising, service, and other professional obligations.  The book must be related to your position at UO.  Funding may be used for research travel, research materials, publication subvention, permissions, or summer salary.

Eligibility

The following publications are eligible for this award:

  • Single- or co-authored, peer-reviewed books, published and available in a medium appropriate to the discipline
  • Original creative work or scholarship, translations, and textbooks
  • The book must be related to your position at UO and must be a book that was not required for hiring or tenure
  • Published between June 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023

The award of $5,000 will be payable as a stipend (inclusive of OPE) or ASA
