Provost Messages

Interim Provost Karen Ford provides reminders of resources, guidelines, and expectations for members of our university community pertaining to the campus demonstrations.
The Office of the Provost will celebrate promoted faculty during spring term on June 10, 2024. Those faculty members who have been promoted will be invited to attend a ceremony at the EMU Redwood Auditorium (Room 214) with an invited guest.
Interim Provost Karen Ford announces that Jennifer Reynolds, the Orlando John and Marian H. Hollis Professor of Law, has agreed to serve as interim dean of the University of Oregon School of Law starting April 15 as Dean Marcilynn Burke prepares to depart at the end of the academic year.

Initiatives

UO is investing in a new system for students to track their degree progress, a major initiative for supporting student success. This ongoing project will modernize the UO degree audit system and eventually replace the UO Degree Guide program.
This initiative is a campus collaboration that aims to ensure every person at UO - faculty, staff, and students - have information, opportunities, and the tools to form a high-quality mentorship network. Join the kickoff event on October 2!

The National Association of Academic Advisors and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) conducted the review assessing the academic advising, tutoring and specialized learning support the UO offers to student athletes.
The HSI Task Force’s final report on how the University of Oregon is becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). The Task Force worked for a year exploring what assets UO has and what challenges it may face in accelerating the process of becoming a HSI.
This report highlights the outcomes of the Faculty Success: Inclusive Recruitment & Retention Summit hosted by Troy Elias, associate vice provost for diversity and inclusion, and what the next steps will be to continue prioritizing this work.

A reminder for spring 2024 from UO's Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Committee (IAAC) about NCAA rules pertaining to academic misconduct and academic extra benefits for student-athletes.
Brief learning outcome assessment reports and student achievement goal tracking updates are due April 19.

Faculty Success

This week-long, in-person event brings faculty together from all schools and colleges for inspiration, collegial connection, critical conversations, and creation of new teaching materials.
We are pleased to invite all faculty to the Inclusive Retention Roundtable on April 8, 2024 to discuss the complexities and costs associated with retaining and recruiting quality faculty in higher education, with a specific focus on our university. RSVP by April 1.
As we begin the final term of this year-long initiative to encourage high-quality, network-based mentorship for every person at the University of Oregon, we encourage the campus community to attend our virtual workshops for mentors and mentees.
