The University of Oregon, Clinical Psychology Program provides the following information related to the educational requirements for professional licensure and certification upon successful competition of the doctoral degree in clinical psychology at The University of Oregon. This information is limited to our determination that the curriculum for the doctoral degree in clinical psychology, if successfully completed, is sufficient to meet the educational requirements for licensure or certification in a State for clinical psychology. We are unable to provide verification of an individual’s ability to meet licensure or certification requirements unrelated to its educational programming.
This information does not provide a guarantee that any particular state licensure or certification entity will approve or deny your application. Furthermore, this information does not account for changes in state law or regulation that may affect your application for licensure and occur after this information has been posted. Enrolled students and prospective students are encouraged to contact their state’s licensure entity using the links provided to review all licensure and certification requirements by their state(s) of choice.
For more information on licensing requirements, please see the Association of State Boards of Professional Psychology (ASBPP) webpage. All states require the completion of supervised predoctoral practicum hours and a predoctoral internship. These aspects are also required for the doctoral degree in clinical psychology at The University of Oregon. In addition to education requirements for the doctoral degree, however, many jurisdictions require post-doctoral professional experience. These requirements are beyond the curricular requirements described below.
Below, an asterisk (*) indicates that earning a doctoral degree from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) satisfies educational requirements for licensure. The University of Oregon is currently and has been continuously accredited by APA since 1958.
