David O. Conover appointed Vice President for Research and Innovation

I am pleased to share that David Conover has accepted our offer to join the University of Oregon as vice president for research and innovation. Conover comes to the UO from Stony Brook University, where he served as vice president for research, and his background as a scholar and strong record of successfully attracting and managing funded research made him the clear choice for Oregon.

Information Services Leadership Transition

Yesterday Melissa Woo, vice provost for information services and chief information officer, announced that she would be leaving the University of Oregon to pursue other professional opportunities. Melissa has served in this role since 2012. We wish her the best in her future endeavors and thank her for her dedication and hard work during her time here.

Law school dean to step down, return to faculty

January 29, 2016

It is my duty today to announce that Michael Moffitt, dean, Philip H. Knight chair and professor of law, has chosen to step down as dean effective July 1, 2017. Michael will return to his faculty role, which he has held since joining the University of Oregon School of Law in 2001.

I speak for his fellow deans and everyone in Academic Affairs when I say his leadership of the law school will be truly missed.
