Leadership Office Hours

To continue an open dialogue, members of UO leadership have scheduled open office hours over the next several weeks that are available to students, faculty and staff. These office hours offer opportunities for private conversations about ongoing concerns. While there are no easy answers to the many difficult challenges that we face as a community, leaders are available to listen and learn in order to help our campus find solutions and paths forward.

New Lundquist College of Business Dean

I am thrilled to announce that Sarah Nutter, the current dean of the school of business at George Mason University, will take the helm of the University of Oregon Charles H. Lundquist College of Business on January 17, 2017.

As we aggressively continue our search for the next dean of the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, it is my pleasure to share with you that Bruce Blonigen, Philip H. Knight Professor of Social Science, has accepted our offer to serve as interim dean.

New student success and undergraduate leadership positions

Dear Colleagues,

Last November, President Michael Schill set an aggressive goal to increase four-year graduation rates by ten percentage points over the next five years. At the time of the announcement, we knew it would take dedication, additional staff, and financial resources to achieve this ambitious goal. We made an investment of $17 million over the next five years to support scholarships, advising, graduation assistance, and predictive analytics. Today, I’m pleased to share with you some personnel news tied to this initiative.

W. Andrew Marcus named Tykeson Dean of Arts and Sciences

The University of Oregon is pleased to announce W. Andrew Marcus as Tykeson Dean of Arts and Sciences. He has served as interim dean since 2013. His firsthand knowledge and a 15-year UO career make him a clear choice to serve in the role on a permanent basis.
