April 11, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

As you are probably aware, we are undergoing reaccreditation this year by our regional accreditor, the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. In March of 2015 we agreed to participate in a “demonstration” project focused on assessment of student learning outcomes as a measure of “mission fulfillment”. This project was in lieu of a regular seven-year accreditation review. Since that time, we have engaged faculty, staff and administrators in several efforts around assessment and improving undergraduate education. Our final report and our conclusions regarding those efforts is available by clicking this link.

In addition, on May 8 and 9 we will have two visitors on campus to conduct a review of our report and of our compliance with accreditation standards. They will meet with faculty, staff, administrators and students over a day and a half. One of those meetings is an open forum where the demonstration project will be presented and discussed. We request your attendance at that session if possible. Details are listed below:

May 8th, 2:30 – 4:00pm, EMU Cedar/Spruce Room Demonstration Project Symposium – Discussion and feedback on accreditation project.

Please RSVP to Linda Adkins at by April 15, 2017 for the session above.

Thank you in advance for your participation and please let me know if you have questions.
