Fall Workshops

October 13, 2016

Dear Colleagues,

Last week we emailed you about an important new workshop series for unit heads. We hope you will take advantage of these workshops, and provide us with feedback as we work to develop meaningful training opportunities. As a reminder, the first unit heads workshop, Building Relationships, will be held on Wednesday, October 19. The second unit heads workshop, Budgeting 101, will be held on November 8. Registration is required for these workshops.

In addition to workshops for unit heads, the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs will be offering the following opportunities for faculty. Please share is information with your faculty members.

Note that our process for notifying faculty members of training opportunities has changed. We will no longer be sending individual emails and reminders to this listserve for distribution. Faculty members should review the professional development opportunities announced on Around the O, in the Tuesday Around the O Workplace email, and on the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs website.

This workshop is intended to help non-tenure-track faculty, unit heads, and business managers learn about the evaluation and promotion process at the University of Oregon. This session will cover both instructional and research NTTF. Topics covered include evaluation and promotion timelines; candidate responsibilities; unit responsibilities; and dossier preparation.

This workshop introduces new tenure-track faculty to the promotion and tenure process, including an overview of the process; "early stage" discussions of scholarship, teaching, and service expectations; helpful tips regarding record keeping, CV and statement preparation; and discussion of common issues that arise and ways to avoid them.

Best wishes,

Susan Anderson

Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
